Search the shelves of your local book store and I’m sure you’ll find rows and rows of books on male/female relationships. While some say that women are from Venus and men are from Mars, others suggest that women should act like ladies but think like men. It seems that we need a translator to have a successful connection with another person these days. But is it REALLY that complicated?
There’s no doubt that men and women have differences, but are we as difficult to understand and as complex as some authors and “relationship counselors” may have us to believe? Would we need someone to write a book or an article translating a man’s actions and words if we just said and did what we meant?
While it may be a novel concept for today’s society, speaking and acting in line with your thoughts and beliefs will help take the guess work and need for translation out of your relationship. When you make you intentions clear and act accordingly, you do 2 things: you communicate clearly and you demonstrate consistency. Both of these things do wonders for relationships.
Clear communication puts everyone on the same page. Saying what you desire and expect lets the other person know exactly where they stand. Tell the truth, say exactly what you feel, and there will be no need for someone to interpret your words.
When you act according to your words and thoughts it gives people confidence in you, which builds trust and your leadership ability. Ask any random person to name the top 3 most important things in a relationship and trust will probably show up on most people’s list. It’s just that important.
